Privacy Policy

Who we are
Canopy (“Canopy,” “we,” “us”) provides a website platform for landscape supply businesses, nurseries, and garden centers. This policy describes how we collect and use information on getcanopyapp.com and on the storefront websites we host for our business customers (“merchants”).
Each merchant storefront is operated by the merchant named on that site. For those sites, the merchant decides what information to request from you and how to respond to it; Canopy processes that information on the merchant’s behalf. Merchants may post their own privacy policy in their site footer — where they do, that policy governs their use of your information.
Information we collect
- Contact and inquiry details — name, email address, phone number, and the contents of messages you send through contact forms, quote requests, or the request-information form on this site.
- Account details — email address and profile information when you create an account on a merchant storefront (for example, to track quote requests or request wholesale pricing).
- Order and quote history — the products, quantities, and notes in quote requests you submit to a merchant. Canopy never collects or processes payment card details; the platform has no checkout or payment feature.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, collected through standard server logs and, where a merchant has enabled it, Google Analytics.
How we use information
- To operate the platform: deliver storefronts, route contact and quote requests to the right merchant, and send transactional email (order confirmations, account invitations, password resets).
- To respond to information requests about Canopy itself.
- To secure the service: rate limiting, abuse prevention, and error diagnostics.
- To improve the product, using aggregated, de-identified usage data.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that run the platform — hosting (Vercel), database and authentication (Supabase), transactional email (Resend), and, where a merchant enables it, Google services (Analytics, Places/reviews) — and with the merchant whose storefront you used. Each provider processes data only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information when required by law.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the service: session cookies for signed-in accounts and, on sites with analytics enabled, Google Analytics cookies. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Retention and security
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service — account data for the life of the account, quote and inquiry history for the merchant’s records, and server logs for a limited operational window. Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted to authorized operators, and platform databases deny public access by default.
Your choices
- You can request a copy of, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us or the merchant you interacted with.
- You can close a storefront account by contacting that merchant.
- Transactional emails are required for service operation; newsletter and marketing preferences (where offered) can be changed in your account.
Children
The service is intended for business and general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. For any privacy question or request, contact privacy@getcanopyapp.com.
